A recipe scaler built for real kitchen batches

Multiplying every line by the same number works for flour and water. It doesn't work for salt, baking powder, chili or eggs. The Boring Recipe scales your recipe deterministically, keeps the original untouched, and tells you where to slow down.

Open the scaler

Four ways to scale

Use a serving multiplier from 0.25× to 10× or any custom value.

Enter a target yield, such as 120 portions instead of 60.

Enter a target batch weight and the scaler works back to a factor from the recipe's total mass.

Change pan size or shape — round, square or rectangular — and the scaler uses surface area so batter depth stays the same.

Ingredients that don't scale linearly

Salt, leavening agents, spices and chili are marked with a warning when you scale more than 1.5× up or below 0.67×. You see the straight-line quantity and a lower suggested starting point, so you can season to taste rather than over-salt a 40-litre batch.

Counts that make sense

Eggs, yolks and vanilla pods are count items. Choose rounded whole numbers for the line, or exact fractions when you weigh beaten egg.
